Terrell County officials expect to have to borrow money to make ends meet.

Commissioners recently approved a resolution to borrow $500,000. While its not unusual, county officials say they havent had to do this in several years.

The chairman says the board of education missed a deadline, delaying the countys tax notice for residents.

That means revenue will be late coming in. Were going to be about half or less collected in this fiscal year, so were simply going to run out of money. We got the resolution to use if necessary, but it will be necessary, said Wilbur T. Gamble, the Terrell County Commission Chairman.

Gamble says the commission also spent money on items that werent in the budget.

They do not plan to raise taxes to generate more money.
